History of Engine Overhaul Adventure
The overhauling of the first aircraft piston engines started in 1951. In paralel with the latest developments in the aviation and engine industry, THY is currently capable of overhauling high by-pass and high thrust aircraft engines. Engine Shop is a JAR-145 / EASA Part-145, FAR-145 and Turkish DGCA approved facility.
THY Engine Shop is serving both whole THY fleet and customer engines.

Apu Shop
APU, generally located in the tail section of the airplane, is a turbo-shaft gas turbine which supplies air and electricity to the airplane. Main functions of APU are listed below:
- It functions as a starter for main engines
- It can meet all electricity needs of the airplane by means of a generator installed on APU
- It runs the anti-icing system
- It provides air condition and pressurization of the cabin.
Being established in 1972 as an integral part of Engine Shop, APU Shop has been in service for aviation industry sector for over 30 years. Starting with minor repairs on GTCP85-98CK of Boeing 727, GTCP85-98D of DC9 and TCSP-700 of DC10 in 1979. The shop became able to perform overhaul and performance tests of APU’s in its capability after building its own Test Cell in 1981. APU shop is an FAA & EASA approved facility and authorized to issue release certificates of both agencies.

APU Shop will serve as an “Authorized Repair Station” of Hamilton Sunstrand Corporation.
In addition to the THY fleet, APU Shop has also been serving customers both from Turkey and abroad.
Fuel Components Shop
Fuel component shop is a branch of engine shop and is capable of overhauling and testing the components below which belong to ENGINE, APU and general fuel system;
HMU, MEC, MF PUMP, VSV, VBV, IGV ACTUATOR, FUEL NOZZLE, FCU, BOOSTER PUMP, SHUTOFF VALVE etc.
Fuel component shop will serve as an “Authorized Repair Station of Honeywell Corporation” for CFM56-7B HMU.
Engine And Apu Test-Cell Units
Engine and APU Test Cells are used for testing Engines&APUs after maintenance operations before putting them back to service.
All test data can be seen on the control panel in real time and performance values can be printed at any time during and after testing.
