WELCOME ABOARD
Dear Guests,
Turkish Airlines has launched one its most important
initiatives of recent years. As I have stated many
times before, our greatest hope is to be able to
offer our flight services to a larger group of people
by making flying more widespread and no longer a
luxury form of travel. As Turkey’s flagship
carrier, we aspire to enter the ranks of Europe’s
leading airlines. This means acquiring new flight
destinations and carrying more passengers.
The agreements signed with Airbus and Boeing at
the end of July constitute the first step towards
achieving those goals. It has been decided to purchase
15 medium and wide-bodied planes from the U.S. Boeing
corporation and another 36 aircraft from Europe’s
Airbus, thus bringing the number of Turkish Airlines
planes up from its current 65 to 70 by the end of
the month. This number will rise to 90 when the
planes ordered over the past three years go into
operation and some rented aircraft are withdrawn
from service.
