The people on the ground really do look like ants.”
The man looked at him in astonishment and said with
disgust, “Those things on the ground ARE ants.
The plane hasn’t even taken off.”
I have quite a few friends who wanted to be pilots
and actually succeeded in obtaining a flight certificate.
I have always wondered. “Who taught Wilbur
Wright, the person who invented manned flight, to
fly?
Or what aviation school did Louis Bleriot attend,
who gave him his flight certificate?
While flying I always wonder… If I were a
pilot, which one of the occupation’s ‘greats’
would I choose as my ideal? I don’t think
it would be Baron Richthofen. When I think of Charles
Lindberg and what he went through (his child was
kidnapped and killed), that doesn’t seem very
appealing.
The pilot I admire the most is Saint-Exupery. With
his “The Little Prince” and “Night
Flight” Saint-Exupery has made me fall in
love with the skies more than anyone.
I love the Turkish writer, Mehmet Coral, too, for
how he writes about the ground from the air.
