index / Dreams of sea and ski Saklikent
Don’t be afraid of putting on a pound or two: Saklikent offers umpteen ways of keeping in shape such as snowboarding, mountaineering, hiking, mountain cycling, horseback riding, even soccer.
GUESTS NOTCUSTOMERS
When you reach the foothills of the 2547-meter Bakirli Mountain, the first thing you’ll notice are some 500 rustic dwellings on your right. You’ll feel as if you’ve arrived at a charming settlement with hotels, pensions and restaurants. This is one of the important differences between Saklikent and other ski resorts. You won’t feel you’re in an environment developed solely for tourists but rather like a guest enjoying all the charms of a small town. After settling into your hotel, a short walk will uncover the restaurants, cafes and bars where you’ll lounge around the fireplace in the evening sipping your drink, and introduce you to the town’s residents, who will invite you into their homes for a refreshing glass of tea. Only by actually experiencing it will you see that the naturalness and warmth we’ve stopped expecting in touristic centers still survives and realise that here you are not a customer but a guest.
