a former mayor of Daday, donated his
stud farm and horses to a Turkish-German
couple he had met at the races held annually
in the township. Its first guests were
Germans, and today as well German tourists
are among the regulars who come forGreenstruck Borabay and wild boar hunting parties,
which are organized especially in winter.
The horseback riding tourism slated to
get under way next year in the neighboring
Küre Mountains, which boast some
of Europe’s oldest virgin forests,
already looks likely to be a big hit with
horse-lovers.
MAGNANIMITY OF NATURE AND OF VILLAGERS
The forests that lie between the Küre
and Ilgaz Mountain ranges where horse-riding
tourism is on offer are decked with a
thousand and one different hues. Species
of deciduous trees and scrub in the foothills
give way at higher altitudes to conifers
and evergreens. Fir, oak, beech and pine
predominate, with willow, poplar and walnut
adding special highlights. But wandering
in this landscape affords a pleasure all
its own.
