index / The man who walked on water
As you see there are stories that give us the answer: to throw oneself into the arms of the river of life without resistance.
To stay on top of the water we must trust it.
We assume this requires special courage, but it doesn't! As the man with the dripping hair explained to Confucius, it is not courage but spontaneity that is needed; to open once arms to life and accept it with gratitude and a carefree spirit of adventure.

Oh but this modern life!
My ‘man with the dripping hair’ was not like the one in the story who lived so long ago.
He was not an unworldly sufi, but very much conscious of himself. He had taken lessons, read enlightening books, and transformed staying on the surface of the water into a fine art.He watched his reflection in the water with wonder.
Then I understood.
If he dived in the water again he would sink.
I fled away.
