index / Natural wonderland Sülüklügöl
Sülüklügöl is a magical place. Especially if it is autumn. First of all the trees of the lake draw your attention. They are standing like poles in the water, about 180 of them in many varieties including oak. If it is summer and the water level is low, you can see the centuries-old tree trunks clearly. This interesting sight is a unique characteristic of the location that cannot be seen anywhere else in Turkey.

STORY OF THE TREES
The story of the underwater tree trunks dates back to 1702. Due to a huge natural landslide, the Tavsansuyu stream that flows through one of the largest valleys of the Kapiorman Mountains was blocked. The water accumulated in the valley and eventually became a large lake. When the waters reached the level of the landslide, the lake that was formed was called Sülüklügöl, with depths measuring as far as 1050 metres. Humidity caused the bark of the trees to decay and drop off.
