Dear Passengers,

Every new year is full of hope, and everyone enters the new year in the belief and wish that it will bring happiness. We are welcoming this new year with more optimism than usual, because the past year was the most profitable and successful that Turkish Airlines has ever known. This development in the wake of all the adversities and crises affecting the world aviation sector has delighted us all.

This success achieved as a result of the crisis management programs and decisions that we initiated in face of the downward trend that afflicted the aviation sector after 11 September 2001 is of even greater significance in view of the bankruptcies and losses announced by many major airlines. The support of our passengers and dedication of our personnel have undoubtedly made a major contribution to this achievement, and I wish to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to you and our employees.

Our successful performance in 2002 enables us to look ahead to 2003 with greater confidence and hope. Together we have seen that new hopes can emerge in the midst of serious adversities, and that by working with determination and dedication it is possible to achieve success. We believe that with the continued support of our esteemed passengers, the year 2003 will be even better.

As the year 2002 draws to an end, we have another achievement to report. Our in-flight magazine Skylife, to which your response has been consistently favourable, has won an award. The Association of Tourism Investors has chosen Skylife to receive the Barlas Küntay Tourism Research and Service Prize being awarded this year for the first time.

We will continue our efforts to achieve the highest standards in the services we provide during the year 2003. We hope that the projects aimed at raising the quality and diversity of our services that will begin to be implemented during the first months of the year will meet with your approval.
