We wish to share with you our happiness that world aviation has left the Black Year of 2001 behind and entered the Year of Hope 2002. The world aviation sector plays an important role in globalisation, and will take constructive measures in the new year to erase the deep scars inflicted by the chain of adverse events beyond its control.
With the support of our passengers the flight volume, which has diminished all over the world, will increase once again, and means will be sought to restore those flights which have been discontinued. Where topics of direct concern to our passengers are concerned, such as flight safety, catering, reservations, and timetabling, we seek to provide the highest standards of service, and will introduce measures that will help to forget the year 2001.

Airlines are operating with very low profit margins so as to keep up with the dynamics of competition, and on the principle of 'outstanding service at a reasonable price we will present diversified flight opportunities in 2002. Turkish Airlines is entering the year 2002 with 28 domestic and 76 international flight destinations, making a total flight network of 104 destination points. We will continue to lend our full support to the integration of tourism and business travel by means of flights via that exquisite city of Istanbul, which is situated at the hub of the East-West and North-South axes. Our primary goal is to open the doors of the world for you, our passengers, enabling you to be reunited with your loved ones, and to pursue your business successfully. Over 10 million passengers flew with Turkish Airlines in 2001, and we aim to increase this figure in 2002. We are confident that the number of holidaymakers coming to Turkey and outward bound passengers will increase this year.

We believe that all the adversities of the bleak past year will be left behind as 2001 draws to an end.
