Dear Passengers,
Turkish Airlines has been flying for 68 years, and with your encouragement and support has today become one of the world's major airlines.
This is an achievement of which both you and we can be justly proud. Looking back at the past 68 years, we can see how each year Turkish Airlines has taken a fresh step forward.
From this perspective, let us take a look at the new services which we have introduced for you over the past year:
With the launching of flights to Warsaw, Prague and Kishinev in September and October 2000, our international flight network has expanded to include 78 destinations. Partner flights with American Airlines began in October, adding 10 new flight points in the United States in addition to Miami, Chicago and New York. A similar agreement with Cathay Pacific Airways went into operation from 20 September with flights to Hong Kong. In addition we have increased our flights to America in order to meet the high demand.

Flights to Milan have been increased to 10 per week, and we have introduced two flights daily to Amsterdam. Passengers can also now fly from Ankara to Strasbourg. On the domestic front we have launched early morning flights to Gaziantep.

Turkish Airlines has one of the youngest fleets in the world in terms of average age, and the fleet has become even younger with our latest purchase of two new generation Boeing 737/800 aircraft. High-quality personnel is another prime concern, and Turkish Airlines has continued its investments in training, with a B 737/800 flight simulator. The Turkish Airlines Maintenance Centre has been further developed to maximise flight safety, and as a result of the ISO 9002 inspection carried out by the Turkish Standards Institute on 7 June 2000, has been awarded the ISO 9002 Quality System Certificate.

Over the past year we have also expanded the range of special passengers services. On 29 October Turkish Airlines introduced the new Frequent Flyer Programme, 'Miles and Miles', and in cooperation with Garanti Bankasi launched its new 'Shop and Miles' card. The APIS agreement with the United States Customs Administration went into effect, so that our passengers to Miami, New York and Chicago no longer wait at customs on arrival. International Business Class passengers departing from Istanbul save time through the fax and e-mail check-in system. The 'return check-in' and internet ticket purchase systems for domestic passengers are other innovations. In-flight duty free sales began on 8 February as a time-saving convenience for our passengers.

All the services which we have introduced for our passengers have earned the appreciation that they deserve both at home and abroad, and the market value of Turkish Airlines is steadily rising.

The American international economic journal Business Week, which has a world-wide readership, places Turkish Airlines among 'The Largest 200 Companies in the Developing World'. This year Turkish Airlines received two of the Skalite 2000 Quality Awards presented by the Skal Club, which brings together top executives from the tourism sector: the Best Airline award, and the Best Magazine award in the Tourism Press category for its in-flight magazine Skylife. In addition, Turkish Airlines received three awards in the field of freight transport, which is also part of its chain of services.
Turkish Airlines has progressed hand in hand with its passengers for the past 68 years, and will continue to do so in future.
