Turkish Airlines does not take any responsibility for baggage without tags.

Lost and FoundDuring the check-in process, please do not forget to fill in a nametag and attach it to each piece of your baggage.

Turkish Airlines use World Tracer management and tracing system for unfortunate incidents like lost, damaged, pilfered and late delivered baggage. Lost luggage's details can be followed up from the Turkish Airlines internet page. Please click.

Lost Baggage :

Passengers should immediately report to an airline staff and file a written complaint in case of lost baggage with the documents below;

  • Flight coupon/ticket,
  • Baggage tag,
  • Id-card(passport, driving license),

All these documents and information are necessary for creating PIR (Property Irregularity Report) for searching lost baggages in the WorldTracer System. Station offices are responsible for just first 5 days. Lost baggages which are not located within first 5 days; passenger should complaint to the Central Baggage Tracing Department with;

  • PIR (Property Irregularity Report)
  • Baggage tag,
  • Flight coupon/ticket,
  • Id-card(passport, driving license)
  • Declaration form(for lost baggage's contents list with prices)

Central Baggage Tracing Department create a file then make a deep investigation for a month. If it's impossible to locate, they will transfer the file to Insurance Department for compensation. In accordance with International Regulations, all payments are valued in respect of kg (1kg.= 20.-USD).

Damaged - Pilfered :

Passengers should immediately report an airline staff and file written complaint in case of noticeable damages like wheel or handle broken, torn and missing items with;

  • Flight coupon,
  • Baggage tag,
  • Id-card (passport, driving license)

According to the International Regulations, in case of a damaged/pilfered baggage, passengers have to report the incident within 7 days from the date of journeys completed.

Late Delivered :

In accordance with International Regulations, in case of a late delivery baggage, passengers have to file with in 21 days from the date of delivery.

NOTE: Turkish Airlines is not responsible for fragile or perishable items, items having a special value such as jewellery/money, precious metals, computers, personal electronic devices, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, business documents, passports, samples and other identification documents.
