According to Miles&Smiles program rules Elite and Elite Plus Card holders can have their flight class upgraded to business class at time of check-in by redeeming miles from their Miles&Smiles accounts as soon as there are available seats in business class for the requested flights. As of 09 Jun 2009 last minute upgrade service can be applied also for Classic and Classic Plus members under the same conditions with Elite and Elite Plus members.

The other recent innovation for Miles&Smiles members is, the chance to get an upgrade to First Class with miles. With this, holding Business Class ticket will be able to experience the privilege of the First Class service with miles.
