General Information

The Euphrates, castles, fortresses, the labyrinthic souqes, historical mosques and the Mediterranean coast… Damascus shown as the oldest continuous residential area and a great deal of historical highlights play a significant role in the formation of this catchy country.   

Omayyad Mosque is the symbol of Damascus. Azem Palace, Damascus Citadel surrounded by historical walls, Al-Hamidiyeh Market, Takiyya as-Suleimaniyya built in the Ottoman architectural style at the south of Barada River, Selahattin Tomb and the rich collection of National Museum are among the most important treasuries of Syria. 

The fortresses of Syria are alluring. The tremendous Aleppo, Hama, Homs, Latakia and Tartous fortresses carry the visitors to the depth of history. Bosra being home to an old fortress and Roman Theater standing as one of the best preserved theaters hosts thousands of tourists every year. The historical Hadrian Gate and Baal Temple are placed at Palmyra.    

The Mediterranean coast is the major tourist location by its long sandy beaches and green mountains. Especially, the part of coast stretching from Ras al-Basit to Tartus is home to impressive mineral waters and beautiful villages.
