Geographic Location Algeria is placed at the North Africa. By its land, it is the 2nd biggest country of the Continental Africa. Stretching along the Mediterranean at north, Algeria has borders with Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia and the West Sahara.

General Information

Algeria is mostly known with its desserts, the capital at the Mediterranean coast and Berber Tribe having a genuine cultural and social life at the north. One-fifth of Algeria’s land is covered by Sahara Dessert. 

Standing as an important sea port since the Roman era, Algeria blows a mystic weather via its well-preserved historical ruins and beaches along the coast. You should absolutely see the ruins at Djemila and Timgad. The rolling valleys, mosques and old Turkish houses are captivating.   

Tipasa placed near the capital on the Mediterranean coast is home to striking Roman, Punic and Christian ruins. Also, the mausoleum left from the Ancient Numudia is placed here. 

Qued M'Zab River Valley placed near the north part of Algeria is home to Ghardaia. Composed of five towns, this region includes Mozabites which is an Muslim conservative sect. Here is famous for its markets and carpets. 

Timimoun, an oasis town at Sahara Dessert, is a place decorating the dreams. 400,000 palm trees and the local structures in pottery colors are mind-blowing. The views trough the terrace of Gourara placed here massage the eyes. Especially, the sundown views are amazing. Tasfaoud Village near Timimoun is a beautiful oasis. Almohad Mosque and the extraordinary dessert irrigation system are worth to be seen.
